Talking Dogs Scentwork

Dogs see the world through their nose.  Their sense of smell is up to 100,000x more sensitive than ours!

Teaching scentwork to our dogs is a great way to keep them mentally stimulated.  It is a low impact game to teach which means that scentwork is perfect for any dog of any age and physical ability.

Scentwork tires your dogs out in a very short space of time!

Talking Dogs Scentwork is a fantastic way of teaching your dog to be a detector dog.  They perform active indications which means they get to play with (or eat!) their find so there’s no pre-training required and we can get searching right from the beginning.

Online: Talking Dogs Scentwork live and fully interactive online weekly sessions, via Zoom, Fridays 11 am, 45 min.  These Pay As You Go classes are online practise sessions where each week is themed – the dogs (and owners!) thoroughly enjoy it.  Beginners and advanced dogs welcome, £10 per dog, per online class.

In-person: Talking Dogs Scentwork in-person group workshops which are held at Bramfield Village Hall near Hertford, Herts.  BOOK IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS BELOW.

Begin with Scent 1 to start your Scentwork journey and teach your dog to search for a specific scent.  Then Scent 2 to work on your handling skills and partnership whilst increasing the search times.  Scent 3 incorporates baggage searches and car searches as well as longer search times to build your dog’s search stamina.

The cost for a handler space for each workshop is £85.  Spectator spaces are £20.

Meet Lou Bater

Lou Bater, BSc (hons), APDT, UK (01275), ABTC Registered is an experienced reward based dog trainer and has enjoyed competing in an array of dog sports including Agility, Flyball and Canicross with her own dogs

“Our course with Louise gave Fidget and I a big start in the use of reward based training. The location is perfect – lots of real life distractions to be coped with during the session, which makes park life much easier to handle on morning walks…..The homework is great fun – the balls in the muffin tray game is a particular favourite. Thanks to Louise from Fidget and me!!”
