I’M HERE TO HELP
I am a qualified reward based dog trainer offering highly recommended classes in Bramfield (near Hertford) and Harlow. I also offer extremely popular in-home training across West Essex and East Hertfordshire.
Talking Dogs Scentwork
Dogs see the world through their nose. Their sense of smell is up to 100,000x more sensitive than ours!
Teaching scentwork to our dogs is a great way to keep them mentally stimulated. It is a low impact game to teach and I place special mats on the floor to stop any slipping during searches. This means scentwork is perfect for any dog of any age and physical ability.
Talking Dogs Scentwork is a fantastic way of teaching your dog to be a detector dog. They perform active indications which means they get to play with (or eat!) their find so there’s no pre-training required and we can get searching right from the beginning at Scent 1.
The workshops are held at Bramfield, Hertfordshire and are for just 6 dogs and handlers maximum. The workshops run from 10 am – 2 pm. Teas, coffees, biscuits and cakes are provided throughout the day. The workshop costs are £80 for a handler space and £20 for a spectator space. You get a certificate at the end of each workshop and handlers also get dog related goodies.
Begin with Scent 1 to start your Scentwork journey and teach your dog to search for a specific scent. Then Scent 2 to work on your handling skills and partnership whilst increasing the search times. Scent 3 incorporates baggage searches and car searches as well as longer search times to build your dog’s search stamina.

Meet Lou Bater
Lou Bater, BSc (hons), APDT, UK (01275), ABTC Registered is an experienced reward based dog trainer and has enjoyed competing in an array of dog sports including Agility, Flyball and Canicross with her own dogs
“Our course with Louise gave Fidget and I a big start in the use of reward based training. The location is perfect – lots of real life distractions to be coped with during the session, which makes park life much easier to handle on morning walks…..The homework is great fun – the balls in the muffin tray game is a particular favourite. Thanks to Louise from Fidget and me!!”
